Softlight™ Laser Treatments
In the Softlight laser process, a black carbon lotion is applied
to the skin to enhance the ability of a low energy laser to target
hair follicles. The laser light comes into contact with the skin
in very short bursts while vaporizing the light-absorbing carbon
particles. The growing capacity of the hair is slowed by disabling
follicles, which are growing at the time of treatment.
Is the Softlight™ Laser
Safe?
Physicians have performed the Softlight laser hair removal procedure
on thousands of people with positive results for over 10 years.
Mild reddening or slight swelling of the skin may be experienced
which
subsides shortly after treatment. Clients who have a tendency to
break out with waxing, tweezing or shaving may also experience
these side effects with this procedure. Very infrequently a lightening
or darkening of the skin may also occur. Usually any changes in
skin
will fade over time, but permanent discoloration is a rare possibility.
What
Can You Expect From a Softlight™ Laser Facial?
Laser facials
or laser peels offer more benefits than a chemical peel, without
harsh chemicals.
Is the Softlight™ Laser Permanent?
Hair
is natural to the body and it grows in stages. At any given time
not all hairs are growing. Laser treatments are most effective
at disabling hair that are actively growing. Because other hair
follicles
may enter a growth cycle after treatment, multiple treatments deliver
the best results.
Age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, medication
and hormones all play a part in the location, resilience and
thickness of hair. It is difficult if not impossible to predict
how many
treatments
each individual will require to achieve the best long-term benefits. Is
the Softlight™ Laser Painful?
Laser hair removal is gentle,
non-invasive and does not require an anesthetic. The procedure
is extremely safe and gentle. Precise laser scanning of the treatment
area may result in a feeling of warmth often accompanied by a
light, tingling sensation.

PermaYag™ Laser Treatments
The most extensive laser epilation study was performed in Italy during 1998 on more than 200 people with PermaYag™ Laser. To date it is the only study showing permanent epilation in all cases treated – safely, with minimal side effects.
Is the PermaYag™ Laser Safe?
The study clearly established the effectiveness of the PermaYag laser on:
Any skin color: light to very dark even tanned skin!
Hair color: brown or black (with the exception of red, white or gray hair.
Any hair size: vellus, fine, medium or course.
Any treated area: face, brows, underarms, body or private parts.
Any related, hormonal, hereditary or medical conditions: hormonal supplements, steroids, medication, etc.
The PermaYag laser emits a luminous beam at a unique wavelength that is mainly absorbed by the high melanin (pigment) concentration in hair. Laser energy is absorbed by hair, down to the deepest part of its bulb (up to 7mm into the skin). This allows the temperature to rise beyond 160 degrees centigrade enabling follicle destruction to occur.
This destruction becomes PERMANENT when hair is treated during its active growth phase. During activity, the dermal papilla (principle source of hair production) is attached to the hair. Laser energy absorbed by the hair bulb is delivered to the papilla thus cauterizing it. Hair follicles successfully treated can no longer regenerate. These hairs are therefore gone forever.
In all cases the PermaYag™ Laser provides permanent reduction
Are PermaYag Laser Treatments Painful?
At Soft Touch, laser hair removal is gentle, and does not require an anesthetic, with PermaYag there is minimal discomfort – only a small pinch is felt. The treated area may be cooled for increased comfort. |
Before Laser Treatment
Please arrive with stubble length hair in the area to be treated.
Shave 48 hours before treatment. Do not tweeze or wax or thread
the area. If you use a depilatory, allow no less than 4 days
before treatment for hair to re-grow.
After Laser Treatment
Flowing treatment usually all of the hair that is visible will
have turned blonde. You may shave the treated area for a smooth
feel or you can leave this area as is and the treated hair
will fall out within a few days.
You may experience a mild redness, tenderness or minimal swelling.
Some clients may experience dry skin, mild bruising or whitehead
like bumps. These side effects are temporary.
Clients can usually return to their normal routine immediately
after treatment. Following treatment, if any treated area is to
be exposed to the sun, use of sunscreen is recommended for 48 hours
(SPF 15 should be sufficient).
Are There Any Guarantees?
We cannot make any guarantees, warranties or assurances
about your results. We accomplish results in two ways. First we
are
able
to delay hair growth. Second, we are able to change undesirable,
terminal hair to soft vellus hair (similar to the hair on a
baby). Because each follicle has anywhere from one to several
hairs
in various stages of growth, it is impart ant to retreat the
hair for desired results.
What Areas Can Be Treated With Laser?
At the discretion of our Soft Touch technologist, most areas
of the body can be treated with laser such as: facial area,
arms,
underarms, legs, bikini line, back, chest, and abs.
The treatments are safe for both men and women.
When To Book Your Next Appointment?
Hair grows in cycles. Hairs that were in the resting phase at
the time of treatment may enter a growth phase immediately
after
treatment and may appear within 1-3 weeks. Return for you next
treatment as soon as new growth is evident.
Multiple treatments deliver the best results and over time the
hair should be thinner, finer, lighter and less visible.
